The Chopta-Tungnath-Chnadrashila trek situated at the glorious Garwhal, one of the regions of Uttarakhand. From Chandrashila you can view mesmerizing view of 5 peaks which are Nandadevi, Trishul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpoonch, Chaukhamba. Bird Watching– One of the specialties of the trek is bird watching. During trekking, you will have the chance to see various species of Himalayan birds like Monal. If you are more enough lucky then the sighting of Musk deer may be possible which will be again a memorable moment of a lifetime for you.
Camping- Another activity is camping where it will be an incredible experience to do it under the clear blue sky during the day and under a sky full of stars during the night. From here stargazing will be another kind of experience with surroundings.
Photography- A better place for the shutterbugs where they can quench the thirst of photography as much as possible all kinds of views are available at this trek like the view of forest, mountains, birds & wild animals.
The trip will start from Haridwar and trekking will start from the Sari village which is a beautiful small hamlet of Garhwal region. So as brief info the following is the itinerary for your information however trip depends upon the planning like how many days you have available to spend. If you have 4-5 days to spend then it will be a better option for you.
Day 1- Haridwar to Deori Tal
After reaching Haridwar drive towards the destination. During the drive, you will pass through Devprayag, Rudraprayag and Ukhimath then after you will reach Sari village. From village Sari, there is a 2.3 km trek to lake Deorital. It will take hardly around 1:30 to 2 hours to reach. This will be a wonderful experience to have the campsite at the lake. Enjoy the rest of the day and spend your night with stars.
Day 2- Deori Tal to Chopta
In the morning have breakfast by enjoying a golden sunrise and Himalayan surroundings. After getting ready with all the necessary trekking gears, trek towards Chopta.The length of this trek is 14 km. The main attraction of this trek is Rohini Bugyal. The term bugyal means high altitude grass-land so the Rohini bugyal is. It looks like the earth covered with the green veil. Today’s campsite will be Chopta.
Day 3- Chopta -Tungnath-Chandrashila
Early morning wake up with the sun and get ready for the main destination that is Tungnath and Chandrashila. Tungnath temple is 1000 years. It is a wondrous tourist place as well as have pure ambiance due to the blessings of Lord Shiva. The length of the trek from Chopta to Tungnath is 8 km where you will pass through this iconic site. After visiting Tungnath temple you will reach Chandrashila where you will enjoy the breathtaking view of Himalayan Ranges, an amazing view of Himalayan birds. After enjoying the whole day trek back to Chopta campsite and have night rest.
Day 4 – Back to Haridwar
The final day when you goodbye this heavenly place with lots of memories. In the morning pack your bags and have breakfast then head back to Haridwar from Chopta to continue your journey towards your ongoing destination.
Best Time to Visit
This trek is most pleasant during the spring season (April-June) and post-monsoon season i.e September- November.During this time flora and fauna on its boom and rest of the time covered under the snow due to extreme cold.
The difficulty level of this trek is a beginner level however experienced trekker will also enjoy. Actually, trekking depends upon your physical fitness. This is all about the trek so to capture your lifetime moments this will be one the best options available.
